Anda Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the Anda browser extension and the web rooms at https://anda.ayberkaya.com use, and how that data is handled.

What is collected

Anda does not require an account and does not use analytics or user tracking.

The extension stores the following in your browser:

• Your display name
• A randomly generated client ID
• The relay server address
• Whether the side panel is open or closed

While a room is active in a tab, session storage also holds:

• The room code
• Your role in the room

The web room stores your display name and client ID in the browser's localStorage.

When you create or join a room in a tab, Anda reads the video's playback state and the page address. Playback state means whether the video is playing or paused, its current time and its playback speed. Nothing is sent from other tabs or when no room is active.

During an active room, the following is sent to the relay server:

• Room code
• Display name
• Client ID
• Chat messages and reactions
• The host's playback state
• The page address of the content the host is watching
• The viewer's playback drift relative to the host

The page address is used so viewers can open the same content as the host.

Anda does not collect video, audio, screenshots, cookies, passwords or viewing history. Video content never leaves your browser.

Where data is stored and for how long

The extension keeps the display name, client ID, relay server address and panel preference in your browser, in chrome.storage.local.

The room code and role are kept in chrome.storage.session only for that tab's session and are deleted when the tab closes.

The relay server does not use a database. Room data exists only in server memory:

• The most recent 50 chat and event records per room are kept.
• A disconnected participant is removed from the participant list after 60 seconds.
• A room is deleted completely 5 minutes after the last participant leaves.
• If the relay server restarts, all rooms in memory are deleted.

Who data is shared with

Other people in the room see your display name, sync status, chat messages and reactions. Anyone who opens the invite link is sent to the page address of the content the host is watching.

Infrastructure providers: The relay server runs on Hetzner infrastructure in Helsinki, Finland. Network traffic passes through Cloudflare; as the network provider, Cloudflare may process connection information such as IP addresses while carrying that traffic.

Anda does not sell data, use it for advertising or share it with anyone else.

Your control

Anda has no accounts, so there is no account record to delete.

To remove your display name and other locally stored data, uninstall the extension or clear your browser data. The name and client ID kept by the web room are removed when you clear browser data. Closing a tab deletes that tab's room code and role.

Children

Anda does not collect or verify users' ages. Whatever a user's age, the data processed is limited to what this policy describes. A parent or legal guardian with a question about Anda can write to the address below.

Changes

This policy may be updated. When it is, the effective date changes too.
